Ektron ASP.NET MVC Sample

Ektron ASP.NET MVC Sample

Posted in Reference on Dec. 3, 2012 @ 4:10 PM, by Derek Barka

This sample is an updated version of the MVC sample I demo'd at Synergy 2011. It’s been upgraded to Ektron 8.6 SP1 and MVC 4.0.  Ektron 8.6 makes the aliasing component much easier.

Directions to get sample running.

  1. Make sure you have ASP.NET MVC 4 installed
  2. Unzip the sample to your machine.
  3. Create a database called SampleMvc
  4. Restore the database using SampleMvc.bak
  5. Open the SampleMvc.Sln
  6. Update your web.config to point to your database (Ektron.DbConnection)
  7. Hit F5 and run the site!

  • it is asking me where CmsApi.cs is. I don't have that file either from the sample download, or in my ektron 8.6 install. Any ideas?

  • I encountered the same CmsApi.cs error as mmeasor. Has anyone had any success with this?

  • View Hidden files in the solution and delete the .suo file and reopen the solution and the CMSAPI.cs error should resolve itself and the site open.

That's what the issue for me ended up being.

  • Thanks for the MVC Sample in Ektron. I have done the MVC setup in Ektron and its working fine.

And also, I have created the new Asp.Net MVC 4 site setup using Ektron 3-tier Architecture. The new MVC site is working for all the all URL aliased pages also. Just I have implemented the following two classes which is responsible for URL Aliasing and web.config changes,

    URLAliasingModule.cs

    URLRedirectModule.cs

just, I want to know, what is the main use of Custom URL Aliasing?

Is the Custom URL Aliasing required, when we do the MVC site setup in 2-tier Architecture?

Your response will be more appreciated.

    Thanks once again.
